How Dental Bonding Works
What to Expect from Dental Bonding
A tooth bonding procedure should take no more than 60 minutes. The initial stage requires cleaning the affected tooth. Next, the dentist applies an astringent gel to your tooth to remove some of the smoothness. Without this roughening the tooth it would be difficult to adhere the resin material.
Afterwards, the dentist brushes a thin layer of liquid resin onto your tooth. Next, the adhesive is hardened with a curing light, and the process of applying more coats and hardening them continues until the desired thickness is achieved. The final stage requires re-shaping the tooth with a dental drill and polishing it.
